109 Days Away..

Have I mentioned that I'm going to Uganda? Because in June I'll be all the way across the ocean, spending 4 weeks helping at a school for orphans. And I'm thrilled, yet terrified. Excited, but nervous. Impatiently waiting for 3.5 months to go by, yet afraid of when June 16th actually gets here. Mostly though, I'm amazed at what God has already done as I prepare for this trip. The girls I have met- incredible. The way support money comes in when it comes in- humbling. And how He has worked out little details- reminders that He is faithful and will continue to be faithful.

Tonight

My evening is full of algebra, chemistry, history, music by Thomas Newman, pretty mugs, and hot (dark) chocolate topped with cinnamon and homemade whipped cream.

A Little Snow Was Here and There

A little snow was here and there
Disseminated in her hair
Since she and I had met and played
Decade had gathered to decade.

All Creation Knows Your Name

"Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you shining stars. Praise Him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created."
                                       -Psalm 148:3-5

Thoughts This Morning

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?
                                             -Psalm 8:3-4

Ellie

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
                         -Psalm 139:14

A Cheesy Valentine

Valentine's Day has got to be the most ridiculous day of the year. But at least it gives me a reason to take incredibly cheesy pictures.
Hope you have a lovely day!

Little Details

This photo is one of my all-time favorites. I love so many things about it, I wouldn't know where to begin. I love what you first see about this picture- a father kissing his little girl. But I also see the moments before, where he sweeps her up off the floor and hugs her. I imagine her laughs of surprise (from the box on the counter, it looks like she was helping put groceries away). I love the fact that his eyes are closed and hers are open. I love how she is tiny enough to be held with such ease. I love her nightgown because that means this picture was taken in the evening, which means he probably just got home from work and his children are all excited to see him. I love how her feet are in the picture, that just 'makes' the picture for me. And by the looks of her dirty feet, I have a feeling it is summertime. I imagine sounds of crickets and grasshoppers are coming from the window behind them. I think about how, later, she'll fall asleep on the couch listening to those sounds.
I love all the little details.

The Simple Things

Taking time to enjoy the little things- like the snow falling- because life's too short to be worried and upset over silly, trivial things.

Why I Love Mondays

I don't know about you, but I look forward to Mondays. Why? 'Cause I get to spend time with 8 of the cutest kiddos ever. Like seriously cute. I'm absolutely loving this photo at the moment. Can you say utterly adorable?

If for some bizarre reason you're still not convinced, here's one more:

Like I said, utterly adorable. Happy Monday!

Snow Days Are Lovely Things

Chicago got snow... lots of snow.

And so, it's been a day filled with many lovely things.. taking pictures, playing outside, having friends come over, baking chocolate cookies, making cards, and drinking (the most amazing) blueberry lemon tea.
It's been a good day.

Bad Days

I can tell already, it's gonna be one of those weeks.. Two days in a row now my alarm has gone off and I've smacked the snooze button more than once. Not because I'm tired, but because I just don't want to face the day.
Friday seems so far away.
